Reading Critically: Analysing "Truth" and Recognising Bias
We live in the information age, surrounded by inescapable and unlimited news, updates, and opinions. In this time of polarized politics, social media, and ‘fake news’, how can we determine what to trust? Reading critically has never been more important than it is today. In this workshop, students will learn about how writers try to influence our thinking through their language choices and develop the critical reading skills necessary to identify bias. They will examine modern media samples with a critical lens, improving their ability to divide “truth” from fiction.
